After eight trips there I still cannot get enough of the peace splendor and solitude while hiking in the Grand Canyon. North Rim South Rim....I don't care as long as I'm below the rim away from the throngs. If you have any inclination to actually hike into the canyon you will be rewarded beyond your wildest expectations. Be prepared & hike smart.... More

On a trip to Las Vegas in July 2008 we also wanted to visit the Grand Canyon as we started out on our journey we passed a sign that said "Skywalk" West Rim. Since this was closer than the North or South rims we decided to go there. Yes the roads were in terrible condition but the view was AWESOME and not as crowded as the North or South Rim this area is totally run by the Hualapai Indians and well worth the slow and rocky drive to get there. Yes the roads were in terrible condition but the view was AWESOME and not as crowded as the North or South Rim this area is totally run by the Hualapai Indians and well worth the slow and rocky drive to get there. There is a beautiful rock formation called Eagle Point and the 4000 foot drop to the bottom of the Canyon is breathtaking!!!

I've seen it hundreds of times and it is always like the first time. Once or twice have gone there in January during a snow storm and stayed at El Tovar. Only the hard case afficiandos are there in January so it's uncrowded. In the middle of a moonlit night standing on the snowy rim one's life comes into perspective--a silent magnificent sight. I thought of the millions of years it was there before any human saw it. There are no atheists in foxholes and none on the rim of the snowy canyon in the... More

All the adjectives in the world can not give you a mental picture of the Grand Canyon. The first time I saw it I called my entire family and cried each time I spoke to someone different. As much as the sight of it the feelings it inspired were also beyond describing. I thank God I was able to see it twice in my lifetime. To think we have something like that in our United States why travel overseas? ... More
