inviting city! You won't meet friendlier or more helpful people than those in Great Falls MT! This city isn't as \trendy\ or \hip\ as the better known Bozeman or Whitefish areas of MT. But G.F. is where the plains meet the Rockies and has a beauty of its own. It is centrally located for visiting all the wondrous site seeing in Montana.Great Falls is located on the \great falls\ (so named by Lewis and Clark) of the Missouri River. inviting city! The population is approx. 60000.The LaQuinta hotel is located on the river. The Heritage Inn and Holiday Inn (not the Express) are also very nice. The O'Hare Motor Inn is an older hotel downtown. The furnishings are dated but it is fun clean and safe. Also located in the O'Hare is the \Sip n Dip\ voted in the top 10 bars or something by GQ Magazine. It includes swimming mermaids and an organ playing singer (very fun night spot!).Favorite local restaurants are: Sedgie's (downtown) Rikki's Pizza & Pasta (salads sandwiches) MacKenzie River Pizza (on the river) lunch at Baker Bob's (downtown pasties! sandwiches soups...). There is virtually no good Chinese food in town but the Maple Garden restaurant on the east end is excellent! Fun places for drinks include the Breaks Alehouse and Grill and two breweries in Belt Mt which is about 20 miles east of g.f.The Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center is awesome and very kid-friendly. In the same area is Giant Springs State Park which is on the river has a fish hatchery (fun for kids...can feed the fish so bring your nickels for the fish food machine) and a paved river-walk. This is a beautiful picnic spot (has a playground too). There is a great Children's Museum in town. Shopping includes a mall and a \market place\ on the west end with a few good stores.June to Sept. there is a FANTASTIC farmer's market downtown every Saturday from 7:45 a.m. to noon. Fabulous produce pony rides pastries pork on a stick crafts......Hope you enjoy Great Falls as much as we do!
