This is a fairly small town that thrives around Dartmouth College. There are a number of great restaurants and shops (the Dartmouth College bookstore/co-op is worth visiting as well as the shop "Folk"), including the 2nd Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream store ever created! The people are friendly and "hippies" abound - you'll find a good number playing hacky-sack on the sidewalks.
