Alive and well in Vientiane is the traditional Hash House fun run, which features thrice weekly on the agendas of many expatriates. Combining orienteering, running and some serious drinking afterwards, it is a great way to combine sport and socializing. Monday's run venue is advertised around Vientiane bakeries and the whole family is welcome, even the dog! On Saturdays, Hash roams further afield, meeting at Khop Chai Deu Restaurant before shared transport whisks you away. There is no charge to runners (except drinking money). The after-run party often rages into Saturday night and attracts extra partygoers. Be aware, this could be dangerous as there are still mines in unexplored areas.
