This beautiful building, also referred to as Hibbert House, now home to the Jamaica National Heritage Trust, was built in 1755. It's the result of a wager to see who could build the 'finest' house to win the hand of a special lady. Thomas Hibbert, the winner, died a bachelor. Its stone, brick and wooden design is classic Georgian. The piano on which Jamaica's National Anthem was written can be seen here, as are paintings of National Hero, George William and now deceased Prime Minister, Sir Donald Sangster.
