Lived In Heidelberg for 20 years. Still miss it. To me there is no other place like it. Even for tourists it's a great place to visit. Try the trip by boat up the Neckar river, beautiful. Small towns are well worth visiting, most natives speak some english, you'll enjoy their "Gemuetlichkeit". ... Read Full Review | Report This

I have lived in Heidelberg for 7 years and I have never loved a city more. Absolutely beautiful with the Kónig Stuhl by the castle, Hauptstrasse shopping area, and the wonderful restaurants. Public transportation is great but the people are the best asset in Heidelberg. Wonderful people and always helpful. I hope to return to Heidelberg soon and live there. Heidelberg is one of the last cities on earth that is really, really, worth visiting. The Oktoberfest lets visitors understand how fun-loving and generous German people are. I haven't been there in over 6 years, but will visit again as soon as possible. Germany has been "left behind" recently because of politics, but hopefully, now there will be a turnaround and people will again vacation there and come back enriched and happy. ...
