1.The big Island and Hilo

Kona side of the Island is more touristy, shopping, night clubs, great restaurants. Wiemia is cooler and more country. Hilo is way more local with lava tubes, waterfalls, and 4 Mile lava beach. South Point is breath taking, windy, dry, and sunny. Great fishing and you can jump off the cliffs.
Great Hotels I stayed at. ..Royal Kona Resort 31/2 stars. (Bid on it on price line and get it for 40% cheaper)
Sheraton in a Keahou. Lots to do. Beautiful place.
In Hilo Do Not Stay Anywhere Except The Hilo Hawaiian. The other hotels are old, uncomfortable, and so behind in the times but charge premium prices. It's out of control I paid to stay at the seaside and checked out an hour later with no refund. Horrible place. Hilo Hawaiian is the best there for now. Again check price line and AOL for best pricing. Don't pay full price if you don't have to.
There is a lot to do on the Big Island. If you want surf lessons you can find them in Kona for $99.00 a person. You can also look on Craigslist and find private surf lessons for $40.00 You can pay $200.00 per person to join the tourist to see the observatory or you can buy a map and rent a car for less than $50.00. Use your head. Ask yourself what is reasonable? Rent a jet ski for $150.00 an hour then find out you can only go to this one coned area a mile off shore. Not exactly the place to rent skies.
There is so much beauty in Hawaii and it is a great place to take your time and relax. Everyone will have a good time.

i loved this island. We love the volcano national park. It was a time I will always remember. Can't wait to visit again.

The 4 mile scenic route just north of Hilo is the most incredible 4 miles you can drive any where on the Island!

I had so much fun the weather wonderful we got to see beautiful fish and the Island people were great. Our friends gave us a great time and I would go again. Love the coffee!! The flowers smelled so good. So much history to know along with the stories. One thing is Never take anything from the ground to take home like (sand shells flowers rocks) very bad luck and if you do send it back to HI and have them place it where you took it. Went to the Kona Beach Hotel and we spent a few days there with so much to see I didn't want to leave. Sea Turtles basking in the sun the sunsets were breath taking so much to do and to see. Shop's everywhere what fun! There is so much to say so you will have to go for yourself and enjoy. I can not say enough about the Big Island Island People sights to see golfing swiming fish shop's sunset's sunrise the drink's food flower's the history everything!!!!! Go see for yourself and make sure to bring your camera's!
