Picture windows here provide unique and interesting perspectives on neighboring Shukkeien Garden, which the museum building has been designed to compliment. Highlights in the museum's holdings are Dream of Venus, one of the famous "melting watch" paintings by Salvador Dali, and paintings and sculptures by Hiroshima prefecture artists. Recent special events have included retrospectives on the tea ceremony artifacts of Oribe Hideyoshi and Soko Ueda, Art Nouveau in Britain, and representations of the Mona Lisa.
