Purdue, despite being the location of Amelia Earhart's fateful departure in a Purdue aircraft for a round the world trip and the home of Neil Armstrong, Gene Cernan, Roger Chaffee, Gus Grissom and a retinue of astronauts no longer has a functioning commercial airport.

Indy is and has been on an upward swing since 1990 (from 200 to present Indianapolis is the fastest growing Large metro). Sports ARE definatley covered as we were crowned Best Sports Town in the Nation. We are ranked as one of the Top Convention and Business Markets in the Nation. Unemployment is well below the National and Midwest averages. We are the Home of Eli Lilly Wellpoint Simon etc. As far as downtown is concerned- over 260 bars and restaurants with over 110 in the planning stages! ... More

We are the Home of Eli Lilly Wellpoint Simon etc. As far as downtown is concerned- over 260 bars and restaurants with over 110 in the planning stages! Everything is within a 5 minute walk and concerning Bicycles- We have a World Class (look it up!) Cultural trail that is an 8 mile bike/jogging path through the heart of downtown AND it connects to the Monon trail (look it up!) wich more or less covers the major areas for leasiure. We are the 12th largest city in the US. More than 3 Billion in development in downtown alone over the next 4 years. We are hosting the 2012 Superbowl. We have the Brickyard 500 Indy 500 MotoGP so to regain Formula 1 and possibly the Redbull Air Race. Did I mention the Indianapolis COLTS?!!!!!!! We also have a great part of town known as Little Mexico. AND we have the Nations Largest Gathering of its kind- Indiana Black Expo (look it up!) Matter of fact look it all up. This is a great town for young old single married retired etc. Thanks and we look forward to seeing you soon.

urban sprawl simpletons and depression!Very bland regressive and conservative. I was born and rasied an hour north-east of Indianapolis and then attended college in the city. I lived there for around 4 years. If you prefer progressive culture bicycle transportation and local commerce then a life spent in Indianapolis would be a nightmare - and it was for me. I lived there for around 4 years. If you prefer progressive culture bicycle transportation and local commerce then a life spent in Indianapolis would be a nightmare - and it was for me. The businesses are mostly corporate franchises or chain stores and the city's planners made a laughable attempt at authenticating the diverse (um similar) neighborhoods with contrived advertising banners and signs to accompany their downtown gentrification plans. Low-income and middle class housing is losing ground to the upswing in condo construction - essentially ghettoizing poor working families into unattractive neighborhoods. Face it this city is white-washed and drab. It has a very depressed economy which fuels the (yes quite real) bigotry and hatred and this must be why any once of creativity and originality is almost always quickly snuffed out.

Indy is the epitome of the 3 B's: Boring bland and bigoted. It certainly would be way down on my list of places to visit. Unless you are coming for a specific event like the 500 or the Final Four take a pass.... More
