Kia Ora and welcome to Invercargill. Invercargill has been the best layed out city my family and I have been to. It has very clean streets and parks. During spring the flowers at Queens Park are more gorgeous than Hawaii! The people there are sooooooooo nice. They are polite too. If you want to eat at a Burger King feel free to and not find greasiness! Their beef is made from cows that feed on green grass not hay (there is green grass year round) the fries(known as chips) are not even greasy! They have sidewalks everywhere so my daughter used to walk home with her friend. The schools there are all public but everyone in New Zealand where uniforms. My daughter went to an All Girls' School known as Southland Girls' High. My son went to a co-ed called James Hargest High School. All working people HAVE to wear black. Anything black. There are plenty of parks (Queen's Park is the largest in the center of tow) and lots of rivers that run through the town. It is 10kms (6 miles) from the beach. Invercargill is the 2nd most southern city in the world. There are lots of old churches around the town. If you feel like a garden and luncheon head to Nichol's up by the LDS church on North Road. The Kiwi accent sounds like a mix between British and Australian. My Family and I have lived in New Zealand for almost 2 years. My husband worked at SIT (Southern Institute of Technology) there located on the main street Tay St. If you have a family (kids still at home) have some extra money to spend or your husband would like to apply to a job in New Zealand I personally recommend Invercargill because it is a great city for children to grow up in with a museum in Queens Park and city buses a movie theater and shoppes. It is a very wonderful town. You can also learn more about it in Wikipedia or just around the internet. The city is around 51000. And there are plenty of things to do located just 2 hours eachway.Thank you Pam Eckhardt
