The country is a hidden jewel. Rent a car and get away from the normal tourist locations. Selfoss, Gulfoss and Kinderfoss are all fun to explore. Camping and hiking are cheep and plentifull. Icecaps and fishing rivers are at almost every turn.
Spent three years there and loved it.

It's a good place to visit for a long-weekend, or a
week's vacation; scenic

The scenery is good (not great), the food is upper-level, but food & drinks are similarly
priced to New York City. We toured with a group of (30), last March & enjoyed it; would recommend it; go to the Blue Lagoon & spend a day.

Make sure you go when they have the daylight hours, usually last about ten hours a day, also make sure you bring black our curtains if the hotel does not have them. You can forget about the time and not go to sleep for about 72 hours or longer. But it's a wonderful place, and get good deals on winter clothing up there. Night life is great
