One famous event is the Texas Furniture Maker's Show wherein the top furniture makers from across the state display and put on sale their talented creations.Kerr Arts & Cultural Center is just one stop downtown. It's a great walking town although one large Dept. Store and the Hospital recently vacated and set plans are yet to come. Next door to the Cultural Center is the Hill Country Museum housed in an architectural dream of a prominent developer of Kerrville Charles Schreiner. Open Wed-Sat afternoons $5 admission. It gives a great history of the late 1800's. Also downtown is the Sunrise Antique Mall 2 floors of collectibles and then stroll through some of the shops and galleries like Rivers Edge Gallery.Outside of town is the Museum of Western Art an extremely worthy stop dedicated to the preservation of Western Art. A great Children's Gallery allows youngsters to learn about life on a wagon train. Make a stop also at Riverside Nature Center a botanical arboretum dedicated to Hill Country native plantings.
