The Real Scoop
I've been to Jamaica about 5 times and I've always stayed at nice resorts in Runaway Bay and Ocho Rios. The resorts are wonderful, but you can expect some inconveniences at times because it's not the U.S.A. That's part of the culture and experience of Jamaica. Lighten up a bit. If you want perfection, then go stay at the Four Seasons or The Breakers. The staff and locals on the resorts have always been exceptionally nice, unlike what you find in Freeport or Nassau. They have always shown themselves to be interested in the guests having a great time. Yes, there are locals that may try to sell you drugs and you say "no thanks". That's the end of it. Nobody has ever tried to sell me drugs on the resorts. There are also bad areas. Don't go there! If you go to Miami, you would go to South Beach, not Overtwon, right? If you visit L.A., would you go to S. Central L.A. or Watts? Just use some common sense, do a little research on where to stay, listen to your travel agent and Jamiaca will be a very enjoyable place fo go. Great local food and drink and some of the best water in the world. Everything Irie Mon!
