Krabi was the highlight of my 3 week trip to Thailand.. SPECTACULAR monolith like structures rising from the ocean ...I never tired of looking at them.. daily inexpensive boat rides to the various islands for snorkling..with barefoot, barely clothed boat men in prehistoric- beyond -simple boats.. pristine beaches with enormous sweet cut and cleaned pineapple served to you for what.. $ 1? VERY family friendly ..many people brought kids to many resorts. we stayed in a low rise hotel..more like a motel with a pool.. right across from the beach ( Most hotels are across..very very few directly on water) We went in January before the Tsunami and loved every minute. Forget the other resort area.. (sounds like poo-ket..this review won't let me mention it ) ... many many visitors to Krabi were booked there ,...and paying for accomodations in that other region and were disappointed..for many reasons..and instead took transport to Krabi and repaid for hotels there ! Massages $ 15 ! restaurants everywhere.. I travel a lot and geographically Krabi was definitely the most pleasing and interesting beach area I've ever been to.. Don't forget to take a private car to a mangrove kayak trip..the car and the scenery along the way made me stop several times.. JUST TO GAPE and I had the guy paddle the kayak while I video'd ! tough life but somebody's gotta live it
