The Kunsthaus Zurich was opened in 1910 and considers its abundance of 19th-and 20th-century Swiss pieces as the highlight of its collection. Extended many a time, this is undeniably one of Switzerland's most significant collections as it boasts a great number of Dadaist works, as well as pieces by Chagall, Mondrian, Munch and other masters. Those who favor Impressionist artists will be delighted to find two of Monet's best waterlily paintings here. Modern art is not forgotten, with works by Beuys, Baselitz and Bacon flying the flag. The whole collection is set off by an enormous Alberto Giacommetti exhibition and photography prize. The Kunsthaus prompts a great deal of discussion due to consistently far-reaching temporary exhibitions. In the entrance you will find an elaborately-stocked art bookshop.
