I love La Jolla all year round. The beaches are great in the summer. You can go exploring around the coves, visit the seals on the beach and the sunsets are amazing. La Jolla has one of the best climates in the world where the temperatures always seem to be in the 70's and lots of sun. The downtown area is quaint and has some good restaurants and bars (a number that look out on the water). There's also a nice beach that is frequented by sea lions. Also, there are hiking trails along the water that skirt the cliffs and provide tremendous views. Some good side trips include Coronado Island, the San Diego Zoo or a trip to the desert.
