La Jolla Shores has is all! Playground for the little ones nice soft sandy beach with swallow water that is cool warm with nice body surf waves twenty to thirty feet out for the teenagers up to mom and pop. Parking is an adventure but worth the hunt!Lodging stay off the beach to save money lots of money. There is a Marriott Sheraton and Hyatt in the University City/LaJolla area that will save you 30% to 40% of beach prices. Not more than a five minute drive. Paradise Island Resort in Mission Bay... Paradise Island Resort in Mission Bay is FANTASTIC again not more than a five minute drive...okay maybe ten minutes. Not an economy resort but worth every penny.

While it is a small community of its own it has plenty for those who are interested in watching the surf come in at sunset walking along the trail by the waterfront and a variety of art galleries along Prospect Street. For those who don't mind a short drive north there are vineyards in Temecula along with other attractions. Too much for a weekend but plenty for a week.
