Amazing Art Galleries 
La Jolla is a great place to visit, nestled along the pines of San Diego.  While it is a small community of its own, it has plenty for those who are interested in watching the surf come in at sunset, walking along the trail by the waterfront, and a variety of art galleries along Prospect Street.  There are plenty of coffee shops for those who don't like the biting cold of winter along a waterfront.  

There is also plenty to do around the area:  San Diego Zoo; Balboa Park; Old Town; Coronado Island; Point Loma Lighthouse; Whale Watching Excursions (seasonal); The Star of India; The Gaslamp District.  For those who don't mind a short drive north, there are vineyards in Temecula, along with other attractions.  Too much for a weekend, but plenty for a week.
