We attended a family wedding in Vegas and decided to make a vacation out of the event. Our 4 year old grandaughter was very excited about staying in the "castle". When we got to our room - on the 6th floor - and opened our blinds to see the "breathtaking view of the strip" as advertised, we saw instead a white cinderblock wall - not exactly the view we were anticipating. We had NO view of anything. It was like being in solitary confinement for the duration of our stay. ... More

We had NO view of anything. It was like being in solitary confinement for the duration of our stay. The children's area on the lowe level was filled with old carnival types of games that often didn't work. The staff on duty did get the machines working, but it was very frustrating having to always ask them to "fix" the machine. The room was dingy and dated looking, but clean. T.V was poor - no selection of local programming - other than advertisement for hotels on strip. The bath had no tub - only a large shower - inonvenient. Good thing I didn't leave anything there - have no plans to return.

4.It ain't as bad as people are saying
My wife ans I spent the Valentines Day weekend at the Excalibur. I was hesitant because I booked the trip prior to reading the reviews. There are some truths in the complaints....but let me explain. The check-in process was a little hectic from the location the shuttle lets you off in front of the hotel to the check in desk was a nice little walk through the casino and it was a little uncomfortable with our luggage. There was a very long line at check in at the check in desk but it moved along quickly and the had a host assisting people in line. There is a 5$ per day resort fee that you pay at check in....WTF is that? But you pay it and move on. Our room was clean and pretty basic for Las Vegas standards but that is why the rates are so low. The room was clean and served it's purpose room service was quality and courteous. The blue suits that everyone is complaining about ARE EVERYWHERE...not just this hotel. Yuo have to learn how not to make eye contact and move on. The resteraunts were good at best the buffet in this hotel was the worst of all of the ones we went to but it wasn't bad and if you are on a budget the $25 all u can eat all day is a great deal. I lost on everything I touched in the casino but I am not a great gambler so I chalked it up to Vegas being Vegas. All in all this place is good for people on modest budgets and if you judge it on it's own merit it is not a bad place the problem is it sits between 2 nicer hotels and the differences are obvious. The hotel is located at the end of the strip so you can walk to al ot of the other hotels and enjoy their attractions. this place ain't all that bad.

My wife still to this day doesn't believe me when I told her I didn't pay for that room. But It was the most beautiful thing she has ever seen in her life. And she thinks I gave it to her! I wish I could one day take her back to relive that special night.
