Must have been really nice when it was new. Everything in the guest rooms was original including the towels. No evidence that the rooms have ever been updated as far as worn out carpet, curtains bedspread & matress. But if they would replace all of those things it would be really neat. We stayed in the Pyramid Spa Suite with a nice view and it was a large suite. Bathroom was large and clean. Housekeeping was great but you cant really make old stuff look good, but it was clean . Towels were worn out and yellowish grey (originally white). Needs a kid only pool. Or and adult only pool. Hard to lounge around at the pool with kids jumping in on top of you. Only one of 5 pools were open so it was overcrowded . Apparently this is typical of all hotels in the off season so beware of a crowded pool. The weather was 90 degrees so there was no reason to close the other pools, you pay for the use of 5 pools but only get to use one so they dont have to pay to service the others. The pyramid is massive , be sure to get a room close to the elevator that serves your floor. Dinner at Cat House was overpriced and not as advertised. Only one window display tucked away in the corner so only about 2 tables could view the show. If you want the best Steak in town go to The Outback just a short walk down the strip. As for the Cat House Nightclub , all the tables were for bottle reservaions. And it was full of 60 year old men and 21 year old women. Not at all what we expected. Nightclubs do not open till 11pm so make sure and adjust your sleeping schedual if you want to see the nightlife. Take the SHowtime Shuttlebus for 2 people roundtrip to hotel on strip the cost was $24 and went very smoothly. Free Monarail connects Mandalay, Luxor & Excaliber. You must then walk across street to MGM where main monorail serves most other hotels but has no view of the strip because it runs behind the hotels. To see the strip you really should walk it...or take the Duece Bus .
