1.Lord of a Castle Dinner
Bunratty Castle was the scene for an evening I will never forget. Years ago I toured Ireland and upon arrival for a castle dinner evening, I was picked to be the "Lord" over the proceedings. I was wearing a solid white Cowboy style suit . Little did I know that the show "Dallas" had just begun on local channels so every local was calling me "JR": We listened to music and drank "Mead". I was wearing a solid white Cowboy style suit . Little did I know that the show "Dallas" had just begun on local channels so every local was calling me "JR": We listened to music and drank "Mead". I sent a local to the dungeon and made him sing to get out. My wife was at my side and we can close our eyes today and see the long table filled with food and atmosphere. A "must do" when arriving for the eve in Limerick. After all was over, we went back in to the castle to thank anyone still there. I had a coffee drink and spilled it all over that cowboy suit. The next day that suit was sent out to be cleaned by the hotel staff. I am convinced that no one knew how to fold a "Texas Cowboy Suit" What a great memory and only one of many we experienced in Ireland......

My Mom and I traveled to Ireland the first time in 2002. We had so much fun we went back 2 more times! Limerick is amazing with all its history. King Johns Castle is fascinating and St. Marys Church right next to it is over 1000 years old and people still attend weekly mass! I went through the area where Frank McCourt wrote of his childhood in "Angelas Ashes". The people of Ireland are all so friendly, helpful and informative. We never met a stranger there. ... More
