AWSOME!!! i'm portugese and I have been there 11 times and evry time i go there i find something new to see. I'm going back to Lisbon,Portugal on saterday and i can't wait. All of you should go to check it out to see that it really is a great place to go!

Beautiful and Underrated

Lisbon is a beautiful city offering breathtaking views in every turn from the top of its hills down to a grand river. It also has great museums (the Gulbenkian, Berardo, and Ancient Art Museum are the must-sees) and unique architecture (don't miss the World Heritage monuments Belem Tower and Jeronimos Monastery).For other sightseeing ideas see the <a href="http://www.golisbon.com">Go Lisbon</a> site, www.golisbon.com.

Before the 1973 revolution (I happened to there at the time) Lisbon was one of the world's most beautiful, cleanest, and safest cities. There was no crime or unemploymet. In fact Portugal was the only country in the world, at that time, that could make such a boast. It was truly a meca for all maners of tourism, featuring comfortable hotels and some of the best sea food on the planet. It was a great disappointment upon returning to Lisbon a few years later to find dirt and trash everywhere,

I like Portugal so much that I go there as much as I can. All countries in the world have their bad things and good things. I have traveled the world including all European countries and Portugal is the one I keep on going. Lisbon and the rest of Portugal is wonderful by any standards.

Suggest visitors go to the Maritime Museum and soak in the Age of Exploration. Start at the statue of Prince Henry.
Wander the streets where Columbus (after he swam ashore after a pirate attack) and his brother worked as chart makers.
Scale the hill where the old castle St. George stands where Columbus made his first pitch to go west and where he first returned in 1493 on the batterered tiny Nina, only to be taken in custody by Dias ( of around the Cape fame ) on a big war ship and taken up
