Elegant French-style Mansion Hotel built in 1894, formerly a Duke's palatial residence & an embassy.

We just came back from a trip to Madrid where we've stayed 4 nights at AC Santo Mauro.
It could be an amazing hotel but don't expect a 5 stars standards at AC Santo Mauro.
We encounter several problems from the lack of services provided by the concierge to the AWFUL FOOD quality of rooms service. Also don't relay on any bathroom amenities such as cotton facial tissues etc (the ones that are expected on a 5 stars hotel.) They also forgot to place a wake-up call as requested by us on our departure day. The mini bar is free good but I rather pay and have same quality than have just sodas natural water and beer available.
It is really too bad because AC Santo Mauro could be a great hotel. It is a waist of Real Estate. The house is beautiful but was poorly renovated. The materials used are of the lowest quality from the wood of the doors to the fabric of the curtains. And the furnishings are very VERY average.
