Serene, Scenic and Calm is just an understatement, when, you are trying to describe Maldives. The Republic of Maldives is an island nation in the Indian ocean. It consists of roughly 1,192 islets. I visited this beautiful country in June 2007. The best time to visit Male is September through February. Due to its proximity to the equator, the climate here is generally hot, hotter and hottest during March through June. The rainy season sets in July and continues through August. On board the flight to Male, when descending, you get the ariel view of the deep blue pristine clear water and the shallow green island areas, which is a breathtaking view. The airport and the main city are in 2 different islands. Mode of transports are ferries, motor boats etc. There are a wide range of hotels to choose from, per budget and rating. The big ones are Taj Exotica, Banyan Tree, Paradise Island. I stayed at the Taj Coral Reef resorts and boy it was an excellent facility, true to the name of Taj hospitality. Maldives is known for its watersports ranging from Deep sea diving to snorkelling. It would be an added advantage if a person knows swimming. Maldives is primarily islamist. But religious influence is not much in the resorts, but when in Male city, it would be recommended that the traveller respects the religious requirements. True to its billing, Maldives is a paradise on earth and I would on any day recommend people to visit.
