I am a Fil-Am. My best buddy who's a full-blooded American and I visited Manila in December 2007 for Christmas and New Year. From the moment we stepped off the plane to the time we came back to the US it was nonestop fun. We stayed at this swanky hotel in Makati right smack in the middle of shopping extravaganza. My buddy thought we never left the US because everybody spoke English most of the signs are in English and most of the things we have in the US is here---from the most upscale shops like Louie Vuitton to your everyday cafe like Starbucks. What was most appealing was the food---loads of choices. I cannot forget our al fresco dining at People's Palace which serves Thai food. Just astonishingly delicious. How about the French macaroons at Bizu---divinely decadent. And the vieja de ropa at Havana Cafe---delectably original. The Philippines may not be as well known as Thailand in terms of cuisine but you won't find it lacking in foods from all over the world. You've got to try it. We're already thinking of visiting again in 2010.

I went to the Philippines last summer. I saw the Philippines from mountains to beaches to seas.It was a beautiful place. I would go back there anytime. The people are warm and friendly and almost everybody speaks English so its not very difficult to communicate with them. Shopping is great and cheap too. Food is abundant. You have to divide your vacation time while you're there because there's way too much to see and it will seem like there's very little time to see them. It's a great country. P... More
I went to the Philippines last summer. People here say that its dangerous to go there for a vacation because of terrorist threats everywhere. But I felt safe going around and bar hopping in the wee hours of the mornings all of us Americans and it was fine. Sunset by the bay was awesome. Have you tried eating in the middle of the ocean in a raft where food is being prepared and served by candlelight? It was an out-of- this-world experience. What about having to bathe under beautiful breathtaking falls?
And the ladies! Gorgeous! I'd go there again maybe next summer and this time will probably ask more of my good buddies to come with me. It was an experience I'll never forget!

If you love to scuba dive some of the best scuba diving sites in the world are in the Philippines. Of course people know about the beautiful beaches of the Philippines and my favorites are Elnido and Amanpulo in Palawan Island. These are spectacular beaches!!! They are a bit more pricey but well worth it if you want serenity and full relaxation. Filipinos are warm and hospitable people. I went to the karaoke bar in Glorietta Mall and we had fun and sang the night away. Many golfing spots around the city and I had fun fun fun.

Manila has lot of thing to do and is a very bustling city. best thing about the Philippine is it people and the willingness to be helpful. even when they don't have to be.
