Our first trip to Hawaii, we went to two islands, Ohau and Maui it was the most wonderful thing we have ever done. We are in our late 50's, have no idea what we were waiting for. But, we do know we needed 7 days on each island. You feel as though you were more than welcome to stay. We stayed at the Resort Quest Kanapalli Beach Hotel, meet some awsome locals named Don and Donna they were the best. The word paradise is not even and adiquate discription for the wonderful place and the Aloha spirit of the people. So to the one who wrote the negative review, you need to go again and relax. I feel sorry they had a bad flight but you did fly 4500 miles possible even 5000, its going to take a while! It's truly the end of the rainbow. Mahalo to all the Hawaiian people, you're very blessed.

My husband and I came to Maui for our son's a wedding. We are both of advanced age. The total trip from NY to Maui took more then 14 hour. We arrived in the dead of night and after all the troubles with airlines, baggage and delays finally were on our way in the rented car into the night without any idea where we were going. Not long after we were on our way we were stopped by the cop who insisted that we were going 55 miles in the 45 mile zone, where there were no sings in site. At least none that we could see as tired as we were. We tried to explain to him the circomstances but to no avail. So he gave as a "WELCOME" ticket. We were finally on our way again. While continuing driving we saw practically every 2 or 3 miles the same picture as us. that is tickets were given all over. The way we feel, the cops are standing there waiting for fresh prey from the airport of confused tired people and just fill up their folders with our money. It was most disapointing experience i've ever had. It put a damper on our entire experince and the wedding we came to attand. i will NEVER go back to Hawaii again.

To the single negative-reviewer here, from an 11-year resident of Maui (no, not a "native"). Maybe it's just your attitude that caused the people on Maui to misdirect you; you come off with a chip on your shoulder. So you met some locals who consider themselves "natives" but weren't born here. That just tells me they love it here so much that they feel like many of us, rooted and grounded in Maui's warmth and beauty, so they proclaim themselves "native." Life has carried me to several places, and I ended up on Maui simply by chance, really. I like to think of it as destiny. In any case, I feel more "at home" here than anyplace I've ever lived, and I've gotten to know the spirit of the place intimately. People who expect others to meet their standard and expectations and don't open up and project good energy tend to have lousy experiences here. I'm glad to hear you at least finally found a sense of aloha on Kauai, and sorry you missed Maui's true nurturing essence.

I loved Maui so much I bought a condo there that has a spectacular view of west Maui.270 degree ocean view with whales breeching in front of my condo.The best seat in the house is on the lanai at sunset and lots of rainbows to see over the ocean.Check the web site out vrbo.com # 43198 with a virtual tour.I rent it out because it is too beautiful not to share and this was the only way I could afford it.Aloha !!!!!!!!

My wife & I have been going to Hawai'i every year since 1991. The 1st time there we were so impressed we bought a 2 bedroom town house on The Big Island. It's the best place in the world & we have been to a lot of place's. The Hawaiian people are the best around. If you go you need to rent a convertible car to get the best views.
