Memphis is a great place to spend a weekend

Sure, Memphis isn't like visiting Washington DC or San Francisco, but it's a fun place to spend a weekend sampling the ribs, listening to blues music, observing the nightly tradition at The Peabody over cocktails, and retracing the steps of Tom Cruise in "The Firm." Maybe even use this port (the largest city between Atlanta and Dallas, and between St. Louis and New Orleans) as the starting or ending point of a paddlewheel cruise up or down the Mississippi. Only WORK in Memphis

We moved to Memphis 6 years ago form San Antonio, Texas. Live in Germantown, a Memphis suburb and have had NO problems with crime. Germantown is a VERY safe area with LOW crime. Work in East Memphis. Again, No problems. We have been to Downtown Memphis TWO times in 6 years. Would agree with the negative reviews of Memphis but not Shelby County.

the worst for long security lines

Okay . . Memphis is NOT a huge city. Let's compare memphis to Buffalo . .. I can spend about an hour in a security line at Memphis and about 10 minutes at Buffalo. SAnd at Memphis theyv are grumpy, unfriendly, don't care about your flight, and are just plain stupid. In fact at Memphis they let a srewdriver (and please .. was I going to take the airplane apart from the inside with a mini screwdriver) slip by and it was confiscated elsewhere . . so why am i spending that long in line at MEMPH
