Memphis is a great place to spend a weekend
Sure, Memphis isn't like visiting Washington DC or San Francisco, but it's a fun place to spend a weekend sampling the ribs, listening to blues music, observing the nightly tradition at The Peabody over cocktails, and retracing the steps of Tom Cruise in "The Firm." Maybe even use this port (the largest city between Atlanta and Dallas, and between St. Louis and New Orleans) as the starting or ending point of a paddlewheel cruise up or down the Mississippi. And great college basketball, if you can get a ticket. Plus Graceland is a place everyone should visit once. If you like Austin for it's music, Memphis will be an interesting contrast.
