Dutch Curacao - Touch of Europe on the Beach

Curacao is the wonderful capital of the Netherland Antilles. It has all the tourist attractions like diving beaches Seaquarium restaurants museums but it is also has a real city with real people who work in areas other than tourism. Everyone speaks Dutch and usually English also. The currency is local but is tied to the US dollar so you never need to switch money and can always be quoted and pay in US$ (The menus list both prices). Curacao is the wonderful capital of the Netherland Antilles. It has all the tourist attractions like diving beaches Seaquarium restaurants museums but it is also has a real city with real people who work in areas other than tourism. Everyone speaks Dutch and usually English also. The currency is local but is tied to the US dollar so you never need to switch money and can always be quoted and pay in US$ (The menus list both prices). Most hotels are about 20% less than Aruba (the closest island) and you can stay in BlueBay downtown Seaquarium area or in more remote areas. It is great I go twice a year.

Not at all impressed with this place. Reminded me of Tijuana Mexico. Dirty run-down nothing spectacular at all. We as well would not return.... More

Polluted hectic noisy didn't feel safe or at home. Locals staring at me and my girlfriend not in a nice way...Food.... please... should've stayed in the resort. No nightlife service poor would never go back. At least in Jamaica it is lively and fun although some of the same feelings as in Curacau. Spend your money in Key West for a really fun safe time with great food and night life. Or Maui for a truly beautiful vacation where the countryside and beaches and mountains are pristine and pre... More
