Relaxing in St Croix, Virgin Islands
St. Croix

St. Croix is the largest of the three main U.S. Virgin Islands with its 84 square miles (218 square kilometers) of rolling hills and sandy beaches, yet it receives fewer visitors than its sister islands of St. Thomas and St. John. The island is a pleasing middle ground between St. Thomas's focus on mass-market tourism and St. John's back-to-nature ambience. An occasional cruise ship calls in quaint Frederiksted, located at the western end of the island. The ship's passengers, along with hotel and vacation villa visitors, spread out across the island to enjoy beautiful vistas, boutique shopping and outdoor pursuits.

St. Croix is home to nearly 55,000 people, nearly the same as 28-square mile St. Thomas. With a refinery and other smaller industries providing employment, there is less focus on tourism than on the other two islands. Since the population density is low, it is rare to find crowded streets in the Christiansted and Frederiksted shopping areas. Parking can be a problem in Christiansted, however. The town serves as the seat of the island's commerce, and with minimal public... more

I was robbed entering my home by three men with a shot gun shoved in my chest and a hand gun waving at me and a knife in my friends face. I think he wanted to get us in the house. I was robbed entering my home by three men with a shot gun shoved in my chest and a hand gun waving at me and a knife in my friends face. I think he wanted to get us in the house. I had a fear of being raped by these pigs forget about being shot. This was a 8:00 at night this happens all the time and no one will talk about it. If you live in St. Croix and own a business or deal with tourist for a living you keep it quite because it's bad for business. Anyone that says this is a rare thing and no worse than a city in the US. St. Croix has 50000 people living on the island Christansted has 2000 poulation and that is where the crime is big. The amount of killing robbing shooting is so out of hand. The tourist are targets for the robbing and YES they will kill you if you don't give them what you want. They hate whites and have no problem killing them. The other crime is when they get the tourist money they buy drugs and kill each other over it. My friend who has lived on St. Croix for 3 years and I were followed from the restaraunt down at the Harbor board walk at 8:00 at night. She has had friends robbed and stabbed in the past and so have I so we wanted to get home early thats how you live on St. Croix Afraid. The police mentioned they use cell phones to texs one another when a targets is heading up from the board walk. Long story short ... My brother ended up getting shot. He almost died in my arms as we waited for an ambulance to show up. It was the worst night of our lives. The EMT's did not know what they where doing and did not know how to operate the gurney.. The first police officer to show up had a broken radio he could not transmit calls only receive them. The only reason I was in St. Croix with my brother was to sell our family vacation home because my younger brother was a victim of a shooting last year when he was on vaction. I thought I was being safe and on guard and they got us. IT'S NOT SAFE police do nothing!!!!!!!!
