The Capitol building in Minneapolis, MS

Overall Rating:

Poor

I have travelled all over the country mostly by car. Last year I took a road trip with my three daughters deciding to go to Mall of America. I remember driving on a major road which had 4 lanes of traffic going in one direction. Of course not knowing exactly where I needed to turn and being in the right lane I put my left turn signal on thinking \ I'm never going to be able to get over\. Of course not knowing exactly where I needed to turn and being in the right lane I put my left turn signal on thinking \ I'm never going to be able to get over\. Well once traffic in the other lanes saw that I was trying to get over each car slowed down and let me in so I could get over. Needless to say I was dumfounded! This city and its surrounding suburbs have some of the most courteous polite and friendly people I have ever met. Shopping is great the casinos were nice restaurants were good and nothing was overly expensive. Granted the weather is frigid in the winter but I definately recommend visiting the Twin Cities at least once to see for yourself.

The thing I noticed most while in Minneapolis was that the city seemed to be very neat and clean. All of its citizens seem to take great pride in the way their homes are seen and presented to others....but what impressed me most was how friendly everyone was toward me while there. No matter where I went or who I met between my many trips between Minneapolis & Rochester I was always Welcomed and Greeted with a smile by all. ... More

Minneapolis and St Paul are less expensive than a city like Boston or Chicago and crime rates are low yet it has something to offer everyone. Unique are the 2 zoos the Megamall the Minnesota State Fair Chutes and Ladders at Highland Park recreation on several lakes within the cities and the ability to get quickly into the country to cut down your own Christmas tree hike or canoe in a county park or pick berries or apples. Mpls + St Paul have great theater music movies and some very good museums (art museums plus a science museum and a children's museum). Mass transit isn't so great---but it's easy to get around in a car. Explore by neighborhood. For example: Hennepin and Lake has some very good restaurants most reasonably priced bars boutiques bookstores and movies. Buy a guide if you visit any city so that you know where to find what you want to do and see. For visitors to Mpls/StP expenisive to inexpensive hotels and some nice b and b's. I myself live here and sometimes choose to vacation in my own city. Not so rainy as the east coast.
