Moorea at the time we visited, was a serene, uncrowded and quite friendly place.  We stated at the Sofitel in a charming bumgalow.  We were only a few yards from the ocean.  It was easy to spot Americans, as so many didn't use precautionary measures re: the sun.  Even though it was their 'winter,' the sun was quite strong without feeling  it. I am  a  redhead, and came back with the best tan of my life.  I plan  on going again!!  Siiigh..
