My husband & I flew to Europe in 1973 on a honeymoon gift. One stop was England, to meet up with girl I had been writing to as a penpal since 3rd grade. She & her husband married at the same time & were taking a honeymoon to Morecambe, so they invited us to travel along. They stayed in a carivan (motor home) and we stayed in bed & breakfasts. The seaside was the most amazing thing. The water would be gone every day so you could literally walk on the ocean sand. But about 5 pm every day, the water would come back in so fast that people sometimes had to be rescued with vehicles. The water would be at a high level on the sea wall every evening. Then it would be gone again the next day and start all over. It was amazing! Also, the city has the wonderful colorful lights that they turn on sometime in August every year. As we were leaving, we were on our bus to depart when these lights turned on. We had a beautiful time. Ancient churches, winding cobble streets, bed & breakfasts in people's row houses, it was just adorable.
