Our family stayed at The Century House on Cliff Road this summer when we celebrated our parents' 50th wedding anniversary. My brothers and sister also came. We booked the entire 2nd floor months in advance; loved having everyone in the same location. We decided on this inn mainly because of the reviews and because it was Zagat rated. Also we wanted the classic B & B experience. Nantucket was our parents' dream vacation.

The staff was very friendly and welcoming. When we asked for extra things such as towels and pillows they were delivered to our room immediately with a smile. They also didn't invade our space but were available when we had questions. The rooms are crisp and beautiful and were cleaned every day; the beds extra comfortable. The innkeeper Gerry was very accommodating; we appreciated his restaurant recommendations. There was something for everyone to do. We all ate breakfast together outside on the veranda. The breakfast is as good as they say it is. Fresh fruits organic yogurt and milk and the best granola ever. What a way to start the day! During the day we went to a different beach came home had the fresh baked cookies and got ready for dinner. Planning a trip for that many people was not easy but everyone was very happy and pleased with the choice especially our parents. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an unforgettable experience in Nantucket. In my opinion this is the best way to enjoy Nantucket Island.

Just returned from Nantucket last week. I'm so glad I was there in June--before the busy season. The town is cute but I can see how it can be touristy and crowded during the busy season. If you want a more remote area check out 'Sconset (I think the actual name is Siasconset) a village on the other side of the island. I stayed at The Summer House. It was beautiful remote and private. I have been going to Nantucket for almost twenty years and I must agree that it is a beautiful place for both adults and children. It however can be very expensive and it is not commercial at all you won't find a McDonalds or a Macys on the island. It is very easy to get around either with bikes or the relatively cheap bus that runs during the summer months to both legs of the island. It however can be very expensive and it is not commercial at all you won't find a McDonalds or a Macys on the island. It is very easy to get around either with bikes or the relatively cheap bus that runs during the summer months to both legs of the island. Public beaches can be crowded but if you rent a place like in Madaket there is a nice private beach. Town is always crowded and has limited parking so don't take the car into town. The summer months are really crowded. The optimal time to visit would be May and early June or September. The historical tours (the whaling museum) and ghost tours are very interesting and knowlegeable about the island history. Just enjoy the comforting island breezes and beautiful beaches and family owned resturant.P.S hit up Nantucket Juice Guys...best smoothies in the world

Too crowded and over priced. Long lines at restaurants for highly priced food..lines for everything. Traffic is worse than anyplace I have ever seen. No restrooms around the town. Don't rent bikes...you'll get run over..bike pathes designed with many blind spots..many accidents occur. Beaches are crowed and have turned into restaurant overflow with tables being set up on the beach. It used to be nice on Nantucket but not anymore.... More
