We took our first cruise and was very excited to visit the bahamas. When we arrived in nassau, I could not belive how diry the Island was. We paid to go on an Island tour. We learned about the crack addicts, and thieves! There was trash in the streets, and the "nice" houses had razorwire around them. I expected to visiit a tropical paradise and we could have stayed home and visited our local "Projects" and seen better. We should have just stayed on the ship. And if they do not like Ameri ... We took cruise with our 3 teenage kids and docked in Nassau, as soon as we hit the main street, my younger son was asked for money - supposedly for the poor children - like we bought that!!!! Then walking around shopping a drunk was giving a store owner a hard time and asking us for money!!! This was my kids first cruise and it wasn't at all what I wanted for them - wouldn't cruise there ever again even w/o my kids. Found it to be dirty and not eye appealing. I have been to Nassua twice each on cruises and feel that it doesn't have much at all to offer and it is a dirty island. I do not plan or care to go back and felt very unsafe on the island. We were even told by a tour guide to be careful because the islanders hate americans and will do anything to rip us off. ... Read Full Review | Report This

Unappealing

Of all the places we have been in the Caribbean, Nassau ranks at the bottom. If you are not part of the Atlantis scene, there just isn't much to call you back. If you compare the locals of Grenada, Dominica or Antigua who are all so genuinely friendly to the locals of Nassau who seem, if not hostile, are in the least - disinterested then you would be best advised to spend your vacation DOLLARS elsewhere... ...
