You cannot go wrong here as their are many people to give you right suggestions and if you lot your way they will help you out. If anyone visiting Delhi I will always recommend to go to Old Delhi Streets ( Gali). In Delhi you can meet all type of people. I will also recommend my stay with lovely host and hostess Ajay and purnima. I have made myself permanent.

There are many people out to get your valuables and money. Recently my mother was robbed of her jewelry by a man in police uniform who offered to help her cross the road and then asked her to remove her jewelry and keep it in her bag. Then he offered to zip her bag for her in the meantime another man started speaking with her. She realized that her gold jewelry was missing about 10 mins later. By the time she walked back both these men had left.

We took a private tour through the Sita Company and would highly recommend that idea. We are older seasoned travelers and throughly enjoyed absorbing the culture people food country side villages and the National Parks. India is not for everyone but it was one of our favorite countries. It's hard to over look the poverty traffic and sanitation without feeling blessed with what we have in the USA. It is an eye-opener and a truly wonderful experience. A person should try to prepare themselves by reading as much as possible before traveling to any country to benefit the most but India is a must. A suggested book that I truly enjoyed reading while there and completing upon return was A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry. It is a novel but really helps give a person an understanding of the Cast System and how people lived. A good resource book to read before traveling there is The Rough Guide to India written and researched by Abram Sen Edwards Ford and Wooldridge. Be a serious traveler and learn as much as you can before and while you are there. You will enjoy the country so much more. It is different and to me that is part of what traveling as a tourist is all about. I loved absorbing everything I could and found India an inspiring country. We toured a variety of sites including nine game drives in reserves that were wonderful. Our guides and drivers were great. We experienced two train rides that definately were an experience and several six hour drives from one location to another. That was the best way to see the country side and villages cows children and the way of life of these people. We were protected at all times and felt safe. The food was wonderful and the hotels and lodges were satisfactory. Some were better than others of course. It isn't fair to compare what the USA has and how we live. We have education money and so many opportunities these people don't have. Population control and sanitation is very necessary but takes a long time to ch

My daughter a friend and I spent a month in India last spring. It was a fantasy come true. Cut corners on food and time there if you have to but stay in the best hotel possible. My daughter a friend and I spent a month in India last spring. It was a fantasy come true. Cut corners on food and time there if you have to but stay in the best hotel possible. We hired a car and driver through our hotel rather than go out in public transportation. The cost of a five star hotel there compares with a one bedroom/no service here in Colorado ski country. The cost of hiring a car and driver is more than worth it - good drivers provide tours the you design or focused on a subject that you suggest safety in infamous traffic advice information and convenience you can get no where else. You can search for places hard to find and stop anywhere. The general hotel service is excellent beyond description. It sort of feels like being in an old movie. Food is served throughout the day at no cost - we only went out to eat when we wanted to explore some culinary treasure. The people were just outstandingly polite and kind; they were good natured and beautiful. Traffic in the streets was wild but the vastly different crazy scenes were what we came for. We truly loved Delhi. Pune Agra and other places we visited. The power in the cities the antiquity beauty and most of all the people there were more than we expected - more exciting more educational more fun on and on and on.... We found incredible bargans. I can't imagine shopping there and not finding out-of-this-world treasures. Taking a train looking for \antiques\ visiting temples shopping - I can honestly say that every day and nearly everything we did was a real adventure. The whole place is an archelogical wonder. We learned so much about so many things... India changed me - I try to be kinder more compassionate and concerned when I see someone from another country - that was the way we were treated there. We love India and will go back as soon as possible.
