dehli - strange place

I was in Delhi in Dec of 07, on a combined business and pleasure trip. I knew just from the airport that was going to prove to be difficult. The air was chunky ,making it hard to breathe. Trash was blowing around my feet. I, being a women, could not even order and receive a cup of tea for my husband and self without the desk asking my husband if I had his permission to do so. I traveled to India in 2004 and loved it so much I had a difficult tme leaving it. Everyone was extremely warm and friendly. I would highly recomend it to everyone. You will definitely come back a different person. Service in the hotels was extraordinary. You could spend a month in New Delhi alone and still not see all of the amazing historical sights. In addition, the food was spectaular, the best I've eaten anywhere in the world.

I'm an American who lived and worked in India for approximately 7 years. I have lived and worked all over the world and India is probably the worst place I've been. I have been all over India, with the exception of Kashmir, and have not seen anything that I would advise going to India for. Although the Taj Mahal is truly one of the 7 wonders, getting to it is a nightmare. New Delhi lies in northern India, almost entirely in the Gangetic plains. New Delhi was once a part of the Aravalies, but all that is left now is the Delhi ridge, the first prominent geographical feature.
