Everything from the people houses places of entertainment and food was so entirely unique that I feel like its tragic it took me six years to visit my friend down there. This is truly a gem in our country. The people are warm polite and engaging. The food is outstanding night life ranges from piano bars to old time disco to mosh pits and everything between.
My husband and I have a new favorite vacation spot - sorry San Francisco and Las Vegas you're no longer our top choice.... More

That plus the art the music the food the cultural diversity the tolerance the history the spirituality the voodoo the churches the synagoges the coming together of all o it the life and spirit of every brick on every street in the Quarter the Royal Street galleries and shops tha Mississipi The Garden District Uptown the trolley Audobon Park and City Park with the beautiful live oaks Harrah's for fun the food the food the food did I mention the food? I go once a year and take every opportunity I see to apply for a job there in my field; I'd move in an instant. One word of caution: the summer heat and humidity is oipressive. I'm a South Floridian who lives in 90 degree heat iwth 90% humidity eight months a year and New Orleans is worse. Forget wardrobe and makeup in that weather. New Orleans is the place my soul comes most alive.

5.Almost 20 years of fun

I first went to NOLA almost twenty years ago and have been returning at least once a year ever since. The food people architecture music and history all make it rather irresistible. I am so glad that my boyfriend of twelve years feels the same way otherwise we might not have made it past our first trip there six months after we met.
