New Roads LA located on the scenic False River provide a Mardi Gras season you'll never forget. The weekend before Mardi Gras is full of parades in surrounding towns located in Pointe Coupee Parish. There are also balls that weekend leading up to Tuesday. There is a morning parade around 11:00 a.m. sponsored by the Community Club. Each year the parade seem to get bigger and better with several bands. The trucks with blues and zydeco bands usually bring up0 the rear. People take this opportunity to sell all kinds of great food that this area is kn own for and the people dance in the streets. Often there is also a location of carnival rides.
