The oldest surviving wooden fort in America, this National Historic Landmark on the Kennebec River was once used as a staging point for the assault on Quebec with Benedict Arnold during the American Revolution. There is also a house museum on site that is filled with period furnishings and a store that contains hundreds of items documented in historic account books.
