1.Really? A bit disappointed

Had been to Destin in 2005 and was very impressed. Not so much in PCB. Appeared run down with many deserted hotels and resorts. The shopping includes XXrated shops on mostly every strip mall corner. Not very family friendly. The beach and Gulf are naturally beautiful but I would probably not return. Drive the extra hour to Destin.... More

I've been to PCB perhaps 20 times in the course of 10 years. I loved the place and called it a sleepy little southern town that happened to have an ocean. I know there are those that don't call the Gulf of Mexico an ocean oh well. I say 'loved' it because I haven't been there since 1997. I know there are those that don't call the Gulf of Mexico an ocean oh well. I say 'loved' it because I haven't been there since 1997. From what I read its lost the 'sleepy little southern town' atmosphere. When I go back and I will go back I will concentrate on staying at the far west end in the little community of Sunnyside. Sunnyside has and I hope it still does zoning that restricts any construction / building on the beach side of the highway and this very much discourages the condo developement that I think has spoiled PCB. If you want concrete and shining steel then PCB is the place for you. If you want a beach an ocean some modest housing little noise and no partying then you'll want Sunnyside. What will spoil Sunnyside is when the developers come and offer a $1m for the tract that a small bungalow sits on and buys the entire community. Then there wil be no Sunnyside with all that it does not have to offer concrete and steel.

I live in Panama City Beach and have been here since 1992. My husband and I started vacationing here in 1985 and just loved it. We have seen this small beach town with scarce ammenities become one of the most diserable places to live. With the opening of Pier Park a premier shopping eating and old neighborhood feel experience we no longer have to drive long distances to shop and eat quality meals. Our local restaurants have some of the best fresh from the gulf seafood the U.S. has to offer.... More
I live in Panama City Beach and have been here since 1992. My husband and I started vacationing here in 1985 and just loved it. We have seen this small beach town with scarce ammenities become one of the most diserable places to live. With the opening of Pier Park a premier shopping eating and old neighborhood feel experience we no longer have to drive long distances to shop and eat quality meals. Our local restaurants have some of the best fresh from the gulf seafood the U.S. has to offer. You will find that the \Old Redneck Riveria\ has turned into the \New Hip Place with Haute' Cusine\. The new airport which is ahead of schedule will be the first major one of its kind in the past 20 years. It will open up a whole new avenue for people not wanting to drive. Expect it to be open 2010. With home prices as low as they were 8 years ago its the best time to buy. We have seen a upward movement in that market in the past 2 months.

4.Heaven on Earth

PCB and even better yet the beaches of South Walton are among the best in the world. Our family has been vacationing there for the past 17 years (before kids) and feel it is our home away from home even tho we don't own a place there. The people are nice and the places are spectacular. Rentals right on the beach are easy to find and we have NEVER had a bad experience. Snorkel right off the beach find great shells eat delicious meals and sunbathe on the white sand. Could Heaven be any better?... More
