I have just returned from Phnom Penh Cambodia where we spent 2 weeks for my volunteer work with a NGO helping children in Phnom Penh and for my holiday (one week in phnom penh and another week in Siem Reap). I found Phnom Penh completely different from the period of UNTAC administered the country during 1993. In Phnom Penh I found a nice and beautiful boutique guesthouse named Frangipani Villa and where I stayed at Room No. 21 with a lovely bath room and a relaxed balcony. It is just a 5 minute car journey from the Villa to Royal Palace and National Museum and other places.

I felt that alot of time and effort has gone into furnishing the villa unlike some guesthouses where i used to stay and visit. The small garden with a Frangipani flowers is really romantic and a relaxing place.

Everything including bath room garden ... was well presented and clean. There is a restaurant where we can try Cambodian food and other western food and if you would like to try food in other places there are some good restaurants and cafes nearby the Villa.

I would recommend this place to other people and I definitely go to stay there whenever I visit Cambodia.

A fabulous tour happened to be during Tet (very lucky) Cambodia was a 3 day visit. It is still very poor country compared with T and V. The tour of Ankor W was very impressive in its size and beauty-one of the 7 wonders of the world. It receives over 5 million tourists per year and is a main source of income. We also toured a very large lake which is a major source of fish for South East Asia. There are over a dozen very nice resorts near the airport in Phnom Penh.... More

let me tell you airfare is expensive but accomodations are CHEAP! So is a gourmet dinner shopping etc. The moment my midnight flight touched down in Cambodia I knew I was in for an adventure. I immediately saw photographs everywhere I turned on every street corner. Cambodia's immense beauty can be seen in the faces of the people the grace of the ancient stonework and can even be felt in the air. For too long it has been a land of mystery. My goal now is to take everyone on the same adventure that I had to open their eyes to what I have seen. The faces landscape architecture--they are far more than photographs. My hope is that all viewers can feel the power and hope that Cambodia radiates. I never knew it was possible to fall in love with an entire country. The constant song of the city played over and over again in my ears and is now in my heart. But now I can't escape my experience there! The faces landscape architecture--they are far more than photographs that I took. You will love the markets the tropical climate the wonderful people. There is AMAZING shopping! Take some empty suitcases because you'll return home with a LOT! Also English is used frequently and your American dollar will go VERY far! Anyway I'm definitely going back. I never knew it was possible to fall in love with an entire country :)
