I am originally from Plano but I have not lived there since 1999 (have since lived in Colorado Utah and Ohio) so please take this in consideration when reading my opinion. I wouldn't normally consider Plano a tourist destination but if you are looking for a place to relocate in the Dallas-Fort Worth area Plano warrants serious consideration. I am originally from Plano but I have not lived there since 1999 (have since lived in Colorado Utah and Ohio) so please take this in consideration when reading my opinion. I wouldn't normally consider Plano a tourist destination but if you are looking for a place to relocate in the Dallas-Fort Worth area Plano warrants serious consideration. The public schools in Plano are excellent its infrastructure is fully developed (roads water and sewer systems etc.) and expertly maintained. There are thousands of shops and restaurants spread across the city ultimately offering an enormous variety of choices. There is a good balance between the large corporate chains and local \mom and pop\ brands. There are several hundred acres of public parks and sports fields (baseball soccer football etc.) including a biking/jogging trail system that spans the entire city. Overall employment opportunities are excellent; several large corporate employers are located within the city. Everything one needs is either within the city limits or is within a reasonable commute to neighboring cities (i.e. Dallas Arlington etc.). If you are going to be in the north Dallas area you may also want to consider/research Allen Frisco McKinney and Richardson.
