1.On your next trip to Puerto Rico do what I did and ENJOY

I think in overall the island is fantastic more than a vacation is needed to enjoy all places in the island. every place that you go it look so diferent from the last one but the warmth of the people is allways the same. Ive been in Puerto Rico a few times but this last time that I went to the enchanted island I planned my trip. First booked a stay in San Juan for a few days from there I visited El Yunke. I think in overall the island is fantastic more than a vacation is needed to enjoy all places in the island. every place that you go it look so diferent from the last one but the warmth of the people is allways the same. Ive been in Puerto Rico a few times but this last time that I went to the enchanted island I planned my trip. First booked a stay in San Juan for a few days from there I visited El Yunke. In P.R. they have what is call PARADORES wich are small hotels with great views and calmness not found in the city life . I experienced many good things like jumping in the rivers horse riding trails hickings went to the beach spend time in the afternoon seating on a mountain and just enyoing the nature among other delightfull things. I also visited a flourecent bay in Fajardo a town on the East tip of the island that was a very nice experience. In Ponce located in the south part of the island you can enjoy excellent cousine in almost any restaurat that you visit especially the sea food restaurants beside the good dinning in ponce you can spend a day in the Old town of Ponce visit their plazas museums and more there they have Trolleys with an english speaking tourist guide that tells you about the places you see while taking a free ride in the trolley. One of the many good things about Puerto Rico is that you dont need to travel far to visit different places

Just loved it there. The people are so friendly. They will do anything for you. The island is just fantastic overall. Is great that the US has another island to visit besides Hawaii. See it for yoursel and experince the food beaches and the people.... More

3.HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

Do not get sick in Ponce! My husband had a heart attack there while we were on vacation. The first hospital he was taken to was flithy and located in a ghetto where drug deals were occurring in plain sight of the ambulance bay. Also several mangy dogs and a HORSE were wandering around the ambulance bay. No one in the hospital spoke English. Next he was transferred to a \better\ hospital were the hospital administrator spoke English but no translator was provided to explain numerous forms an... More

Also several mangy dogs and a HORSE were wandering around the ambulance bay. No one in the hospital spoke English. Next he was transferred to a \better\ hospital were the hospital administrator spoke English but no translator was provided to explain numerous forms and documents. I located someone in the states who could speak Spanish to talk with doctor on the telephone--my own cellular phone not the hospital's! By-pass surgery was being discussed--fortunately my husband's business helped arrange for med-air-evacuation to our home town medical center. Then two years later a suspected hospital employee sent us a \delinquent\ bill demanding several thousands of dollars.And to think PR and its population receives a portion of my federal taxes but does not contribute to the system. The over $7000 includes medical expenses--actual trip was about $5000.

beachand town parkLocated on the southern end of the island this city has a beautiful beach warm friendly people lovely town park and lots of shopping. Recommendation: See the Parque de Bombas Tiebes Taino Park and La Guancha Beach. Visit with the friendly town people where they will treat you to a meal of arroz con pollo (chicken and rice) that would knock your socks off. Knock off some quenepas (starchy but sweet little pit in the middle fruit not recommended for little ones because of i... More

Knock off some quenepas (starchy but sweet little pit in the middle fruit not recommended for little ones because of its choking hazard potential but mmmmm so good you can't just eat one) from a tree while you sit under its shade. Last but not least top it off with a limber de coco (coconut icy) or a piragua (scraped ice with syrup). A must!!! 5*****
