Prague is a very interesting city indeed, but with the dollar down it is not the bargin basement that it used to be. Would suggest staying in a small town along the railroad somewhere, and taking the half-hour or forty minuite ride into the center of town. As slow as traffic in a large city is, this is as handy as anyting, and a WHOLE lot cheaper. They have excellent rail service, many trains a day, and there is public transportation available almost everywhere. The food is very good, quite reasonabe, and the beer is even better. Hotel, food, and beer still very reasonable in any number of small towns. Do not pack more than you can carry, ask questions, take the train and enjoy. The Czechs are, for the most part, helpfull, friendly people, who tend to do what they can to help you. Most young Czechs speak at least some English. There are many worth-while places to visit, away from Prague. Enjoy.
