There are certainly a lot of things to see in and around Quebec city. There are also undertones of being anti Canadian or english speaking. There is a plus to being a tourist from the USA though. They might loosen up a little and talk to you in english. If you are found out that you are from Canada they probably will play deef and dumb and won't talk to you. There are other things of note. Take the large art gallery in Quebec city that offers sub titles in French only. This in spite of the fact that the citizens of the other provinces paid for it through taxes. Bilingual french speaking persons working for the Canadian government get a 5% bonus and don't think that english speaking just love it. Once you get over the feeling that either everybody in Quebec is dumb or trying to show their french pride by ignoring you... settle in and do your thing and have FUN.

I was there once when my sister and husband invit ed me to Canada Ottawa and then a day trip to Quebec.. Quebec City ( Not to be confused with the outskirts and Quebec provence ) is exactly what one would expect in Europe. I nhave been there twice now for the big winter carnival and have never had a bad meal. In fact every meal was memorable including one of the best Italian restaurants I have even been to and I live in Brooklyn. The scenery is gorgeous and there are plenty of activities in any season. I know so many Americans that have never left the USA and this is just the trip that might chang... More

just did a cruise and spent 9 hours in quebec. this was not enough time. there is so many sites and lots of churches to explore. and the waterfall montmorency is breath taking and yes for sure go up to the manor and walk out to the bridge and take in the scenery. people in quebec were very polite and helpful. i will be going back but will spend at least 3 days to see everything and explore. there is so much history and military history there to learn about. ...
