Reno is known by many names. It's been called the "Biggest little city in the world," "the bowling capital of the world," and "sin city." Established in the 1800s, it was originally called sin city because of its laissez faire attitude. Reno's government legalized brothels, allowed quickie divorces and looked the other way with illegal gambling to benefit its economy. Nowadays, Reno's outlawed prostitution, but it is still a popular city for easy divorces or marriages and the city has legalized gambling. There are currently over 60 casinos in Reno.
Reno Hotels have over 22,000 rooms. Reno Hotels cater to its biggest draw gambling. Many downtown hotels are attached to casinos. One of the most popular hotels in Reno and the world is Circus Circus . Just like it's Las Vegas' sister property, Reno's Circus Circus is a family-friendly hotel, featuring cabaret and other live entertainment shows. The Grand Sierra Resort and Casino features a health club, executive business center, RV Park, health club, wedding chapel, casino and 18 restaurants from fine dining to casual.
One of the more spectacularly designed Reno Hotels is the Silver Legacy Resort Casino . The Silver Legacy rents out segways for easy motoring about the city. The Atlantis Casino Resort and Spa features Reno's only concierge tower, containing private floors featuring upgraded amenities like flat screen TVs. The Siena Hotel Spa Casino Siena Hotel Spa Casino is an Italian-inspired hotel on the Truckee River. It is within walking distance from cultural Reno, including the theater and museums.
There's more to do in Reno aside from gamble. Thousands of people come to Reno each year to bowl. The city recently completed a multi million dollar national bowling stadium. Visitors can also take in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, or take a drive to the nearby Lake Tahoe. Reno may be in the middle of the desert, but it is filled with possibilities, and fun things to do.
