The Ringling Brother's Circus Monument marks the graves of Charles Smith and Charles Walters, two Ringling Brother's Circus employees that were struck by lightning and killed during bad weather on the morning of June 10, 1897. Several others were injured. The monument is \"an exact replica of the stricken post, right down to the rope and the chain that the men were using to hoist the big top.\"
