An Amazing City

I absolutely love Rio de Janeiro. I stayed in the hotel royalty barra which was right on the beach. We had the most amazing view from our room, it was incredible. Also, sugar loaf mountain and christ the redemer both offer wonderful views and great photo opportunities. The food in rio, and in practically all parts of brazil, is some of the best in the world. Rio -- The Queen of all cities

I used to visit Rio regularly until a little over a year ago. You can hardly imagine how beautiful and full of life a city can be. The beaches, though crowded, are simply out of this world, and are safe to tourists. The government cares a lot about the tourist traffic as it brings a lot of money. So, if you stick around the tourist areas and don't venture out on your own to the other areas without a local person, you are very safe. One of the best trips of my life! We spent two weeks outside of Rio in Barra da Tijuca...spent New Year's Eve on the beach, dressed in white, throwing flowers into the surf and drinking champagne, followed by magnificent fireworks displays. Rio is a magical place, beautiful people, wonderful food! The view from Corcovada is breathtaking. Everything in Rio is muitto bon!!
