I VISIT THE AREA OUT OF OBLIGATION ONCE OR TWICE A YEAR BUT HAVE YET TO FIND ANYTHING THAT IS REALLY ALLURING. THE AREA'S VEGITATION IS PRETTY BUT HARD ON THOSE OF US WHO SUFFER FROM ALLERIES. FOR A REALITIVELY LARGE CITY THERE ARE SURPISINGLY FEW DIRECT ROUTES AROUND THE CITY & THERE IS NO ACCESS FOR AIR TRAVEL.THE FOLKS ARE NICE BUT QUITE RESERVED AND NOT VERY OUTGOING. THERE ARE VERY FEW ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS FOR A CITY THAT IS THE CAPITAL OF THE STATE. THE CRIME SEEMS HIGH THERE SEEMS TO BE ... More

THE FIRST TIME I DROVE INTO OREGON MY CAR WINDOW WAS BUSTED OUT THE FIRST NIGHT THERE AND EVERYTHING WAS STOLEN BARE IN MIND THAT IT WAS A 8YR OLD TOYOTA TERCEL WITH A LOW BUDGET CD PLAYER IN IT. THERE STILL SEEMS TO BE SOME CONTENTION IF YOU CHANCE HAIL FROM THE NEIGHBOR TO THE SOUTH THAT BEING CALIFORNIA. I GUESS THEY DON'T LIKE US AND ARE NOT AFRAID TO LET THEIR FEELINGS SHOW BY OBSENCE GUESTURES RUDE COMMENTS UNDER THEIR BREATH AGRESSIVE DRIVING AND THE OCASSIONAL SCREAMING OUT THE CAR WINDOW. I WOULD HAVE TO SAY I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THE CITY AS A TRAVELERS DESTINATION

move on nowThe people are nice and there is much to buy in the automobile-crushed commercial strip of Lancaster Ave. That said there is very little to see or do here beyond an occasional festival at Bush Park; and the crime rate is to be watched. Example: a leading attraction is a plain poured concrete surface 70 by 70 feet outside the library. Airline connections lacking. Stayed 2 weeks here looking for a new home never again to visit....
